The most unusual Christmas markets in Italy

Magic of Santa Claus in Pisa

On any christmas market You will find countless various images of Santa Claus. But there are cities where whole figures are arranged around his figure. For example, in Pisa, the Factory of Santa Claus was created. From December 13 to 29, the exhibition center of La Stazione Leopolda will turn into a magical place where children with the help of leprechaun elves will have the opportunity to make Christmas decorations or gifts to their parents. In addition, after meeting with Santa Claus, they will be able to write a letter with their wishes and send it by special mail to Santa Claus.

And what a wonderful memory the photographs taken in the richly decorated magical Christmas ballroom will leave! In the end, all young visitors will be treated to delicious dishes prepared by Santa Claus in person. Entrance fee is 6 euros per person. You can also book a ticket on the official website of the factory www.lafabbricadibabbonatale.com

The traditional run of Santas in Pedaven

But Christmas is a holiday not only for the smallest. This fact proves success. Santa Claus Raceheld in the town Pedavena (Pedavena (BL)). For five consecutive years on December 1, more than a thousand people take part in the competition, which takes place on the streets and squares of the town. Those who wish can choose one of two distances - 4 or 10 km - depending on their own training.

The only prerequisite is that the runner must wear a red caftan and cap, and also have a white beard (the "uniform" is provided by the organizers). Both distances end in Park Birreria (il Parco della Birreria), where the stalls and shops of the traditional Christmas market are already set up. If you want to participate in the original race, then keep in mind that recording stops only 15 minutes before the start of the competition and costs 10 € (the cost of clothing is already included here).

All the lights of Christmas in Candelara

You will experience a truly unique and impressive Christmas atmosphere in Candelare (Candelara), a small village in the spirit of the Middle Ages, who chose to cover the fair candles that gave the town a name (it. Candela - candle). This idea has been implemented for 10 years in a row and has almost become a tradition. Since November 30, for the next three weeks, three times a day every day (at 5.30 p.m., 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.) all artificial lights in the village turn off and thousands of small live lights come on.

And this year, to celebrate a decade of tradition, Candelara will also be lit by the lights of fireworks and luminous paper lanterns launched into the sky above the city.

In addition, in many shops it will be possible to purchase wax products created by the craftsman on the spot, as was done in the Middle Ages. In the ring of walls of the historical center you can walk along the wooden street of Rozhdestvensky Den, where you will find figures and images of the scene of the birth of Christ made by life-size masters from all over Italy from various materials (wax, wood, stone, ceramics, silver, cork). At the Residence of Santa Claus, children will be able to make Christmas decorations made of clay, wax, paper or linen, as well as meet with Santa Claus himself.

The biggest Christmas tree

Guinness World Records turned out to be worthy of the night illumination of the city Gubbio (Gubbio (PG)) In a city nestled at the foot of Mount Monte Ingino, they annually establish giant christmas tree and it is decorated with 800 multi-colored light bulbs interconnected by more than 8.500 meters of electrical wires. The result is a real light show, from which it is difficult to take your eyes off. This year, the Christmas tree will be lit on December 7 at 18.00 after an official ceremony near the church of Madonna del Prato (la Madonna del Prato). And from that moment on, the spruce tree will burn from sunset until late at night until January 10th.

Unique in size, in 1991 Gubbio's Christmas tree fell into the Guinness Book of Records as the largest in the world.
